ThemeForest best sellers: a filter, not a shopping binge

Best-seller lists are a starting set. Here is how to cut them to three items without reading 200 reviews.

Best sellers are a popularity contest with a survival bias: items that sold for years stay on the list even if the author checked out. Use the list as a candidate pool, then apply a kill filter.

Kill 1: last update older than your target WordPress / tool version. Kill 2: documentation that is a 2019 Google Doc. Kill 3: a 4.8 star rating with a spike of 1-star “abandoned” reviews in the last 90 days. Stars lag reality.

Keep three. Compare those three on the same brief: homepage, inner page, mobile nav, and one form. If you cannot do that in an hour, the theme is too clever for a first ship.

Price is a weak signal. A $69 theme with weekly updates beats a $19 clone that will break on the next Gutenberg release. You are buying maintenance, not pixels.

Open the current best-seller hop when you have the kill filter written down. Affiliate disclosure: tips33 may earn a commission if you buy.
